A strong cold front is crossing the region. With its passage expect very windy conditions with wind gusts between 40 and 60 mph. Winds this strong may down trees and power lines.
A dramatic increase in wind speed is already taking place across the mountains. These winds will work there way into the foothills and piedmont east of the Blue Ridge this afternoon.
For your safety, use caution parking or working around trees that may have broken or dead branches. Be prepared for debris on roadways and sidewalks.
