Flash Flood Warning issued July 21 at 8:43PM EDT until July 21 at 10:45PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
At 843 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Radar.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Uptown Charlotte, Huntersville, Central Charlotte, Northeast Charlotte, East Charlotte, Northwest Charlotte, West Concord, Harrisburg, Hidden Valley, University City, The Plaza, Reedy Creek Park and Croft.
Rapid rises are ongoing across the headwaters of Irwin Creek, Stewart Creek, and Mallard Creek. In particular, the stream gage on Mallard Creek at Pavilion Boulevard reached a stage of 12.4 feet at 830 pm and was still rising. At this level, the river will start to flood the PNC Music Pavilion parking lots and other low lying areas along Pavilion Boulevard. Flood stage is 13 feet.
