Flash Flood Warning issued July 31 at 12:10AM EDT until July 31 at 2:45AM EDT by NWS Charleston WV
At 1210 AM EDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms had produced flash flooding in the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen. The rain had moved out of the warned area. Kanawha County Emergency Management reported up to three feet of water across New Hope Road near Upper Pinch Road. Water was also going into houses and trailers in that area, but was beginning to recede. The Fire Department was in the area and working their way upstream for potential water rescues. The Elkview mesonet reported 3.39 inches of rainfall between 1014 and 1135 PM.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Emergency management reported.
IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
