Rain has changed to snow across many areas in southwestern Virginia and northwestern North Carolina. Farther north, rain will change over to snow in the the Roanoke and Shenandoah Valleys between 10 PM and 1 AM. Once the transition to snow occurs, expect light snow to fall for several hours before ending by sunrise Monday.
Snowfall amounts will range from a dusting on grassy surfaces in the valleys, to two inches in the higher elevations. While significant accumulations are not expected, with cold temperatures anticipated overnight, roads may become slippery for the morning commute.
Be sure to slow down and use caution if traveling overnight. Give yourself extra time to reach your destination.
