Flash Flood Warning issued June 11 at 4:06PM EDT until June 11 at 6:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA
At 406 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated that rainfall had diminished within the warned area. However, flooding was reported in the warned area from the 2 to 3 inches of rain that fell during thunderstorms in the last couple of hours. Flooding remains a concern for a bit longer until water levels have had a chance to recede.
HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.
SOURCE...Doppler radar.
IMPACT...Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
Danville, Chatham, Gretna, Blairs, Callands, Mt Airy and Dry Fork.
This includes the following streams and drainages...
Banister River and Allen Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
