Tropical Storm Chantal will make landfall early this morning. As the system moves inland, it will spread moderate to heavy rain into the parts of the Piedmonts of Virginia and North Carolina. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain with locally higher amounts are expected through Monday morning. This will cause rises on area rivers and streams, possibly causing flooding.

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

Portions of north central North Carolina, including the following counties, Caswell, Rockingham and Stokes and south central Virginia, including the following county, Halifax.

* WHEN...
From 1 PM EDT this afternoon through Monday morning.

* IMPACTS...
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Between 1 and 2 inches of rain with locally higher amounts are expected through Monday morning.
