At 302 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a thunderstorm with intense lightning and torrential rainfall 7 miles east of Uptown Charlotte, or near Reedy Creek Park, moving northeast at 20 mph.
Locations to be impacted include...
Downtown Concord, East Charlotte, Matthews, Mint Hill, Harrisburg, University City, Reedy Creek Park, The Plaza, Charlotte Motor Speedway, and Midland.
Torrential rainfall rates up to 3 inches per hour will be possible in these areas.
