Rain will transition to snow across the higher elevation of the VA mountains late this afternoon and into the evening hours. 1 to 2 inches of snow is expected across the highest elevations, generally above 3500 feet. Snow is expected across the lower elevations by tonight, with accumulations up to half an inch in some locations.
If traveling during this time, slow down and allow extra time to reach your destination. Use caution, especially on secondary and back roads across the higher terrain.
