Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...
A portion of northwest North Carolina, including the following counties, Ashe and Watauga.

* WHEN...
Until 700 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...
Flooding along the New River and its tributaries and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding, this includes highway 88 near Clifton. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1256 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 6 inches of rain have fallen.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Call Creek, Cut Laurel Creek, Big Horse Creek, Beaverdam Creek, Big Laurel Creek, Cove Creek, Brushy Fork and Beaver Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Boone, Jefferson, West Jefferson, Lansing, Todd, Ashland and Deep Gap.
