Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

Portions of piedmont and western North Carolina, including the following counties, in piedmont North Carolina, Alexander, Catawba and Cleveland. In western North Carolina, Burke, Caldwell, McDowell and Rutherford.

* WHEN...
Until 1215 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
Water over roadways.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 908 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 2 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hickory, Lenoir, Morganton, Taylorsville, St. Stephens, Longview, Sawmills, Granite Falls, Valdese, Gamewell, Bethlehem, Hudson, Salem, Icard, Cajah's Mountain, Drexel, Hildebran, Connelly Springs, Rutherford College and Glen Alpine.
