Coal River At Tornado affecting Boone, Kanawha and Lincoln Counties. For the Coal River...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT... Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE... Coal River at Tornado. * WHEN... Until tomorrow morning. * IMPACTS... Impacts...Between 20 to 25 feet, backwater flooding from the Coal River affects Smith Creek. This results in flooding of low spots along the banks of Smith Creek, Ferrell Road, and Coal River Road upstream from gauge. At 25.0 feet, Smith Creek Road and Ferrell Road become impassable from backwater approximately 1 to 2 miles from the bridge. Sections of Coal River Road upstream from Tornado bridge are flooded. The river banks overflow near the river gauge. At 27.0 feet, Coal River Road is flooded in several places along river. Smith Creek Road and Ferrell Road are impassable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 6:15 AM EST Sunday the stage was 23.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage late this morning to a crest of 27.6 feet this evening.
