NW flow snow develop behind a departing cold front into tonight across the higher elevations of the western North Carolina mountains. Snowfall accumulations of 1-2 inches likely with locally higher amounts up to 4 inches possible at elevations above 3500 ft.
A dusting of snow if possible in the valleys along/near the NC/TN border. Some light snow or flurries may spill into northern Jackson County, southern Haywood County, and northern Buncombe County.
However, no accumulations are expected. Snow should taper off prior to daybreak Friday.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Slow down and use caution while driving as snow will impact the evening commute.
