Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible.

Portions of Piedmont and western North Carolina, including the following areas, Alexander, Avery, Burke, Caldwell, McDowell, Mitchell and Yancey.

* WHEN...
Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Slow-moving heavy rain showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop at times this afternoon. By evening, 24-hour rainfall totals of 2 to 6 inches are expected across much of the Watch area, although locally higher amounts are possible.
