Patches of dense fog have developed across parts of the northern foothills and northwest Piedmont of North Carolina early this morning. The visibility has been reduced to one-half mile or less in some spots, particularly low-lying areas and around bodies of water. The fog should dissipate by mid-morning.
If driving across the area, be on the lookout for sharply reduced visibility. Slow down and use your low-beam headlights.
