Flooding caused by rain and/or snowmelt and/or ice jam continues. * WHERE... A portion of northeast West Virginia, including the following counties, Preston and Tucker. * WHEN... Until 700 PM EST. * IMPACTS... Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Depending on ice behavior, any release of the ice jam could result in sudden rises of water, leading to a rapid flooding situation. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 419 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated an area of very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen. Flooding due to an ice jam and heavy rain will continue. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Kingwood, Parsons, Terra Alta, Davis, Thomas, Rowlesburg, Hendricks, Hambleton, Albright, Tunnelton, Hannahsville, Lead Mine, Aurora, Elgon, Cathedral State Park, Silver Lake, Benbush, Saint George, Davisville and Blackwater Falls. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood |
