Flooding caused by excessive runoff from earlier heavy rainfall is ongoing now.

* WHERE...
A portion of southwest Virginia, including the following county, Giles.

* WHEN...
Until 615 AM EDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1213 AM EDT, local law enforcement reported flooding at the RV campgrounds along the New River and U.S. 460 in Narrows. In addition, Walker Creek at Bane remains in flood at 12 ft. Flood stage is 11 ft. Minor to moderate flooding continues along creeks, streams, and rivers throughout the county, especially the western areas such as Pearisburg, Narrows, Rich Creek, and Glenn Lyn.
- It is particularly difficult to determine the degree of flooding at night. When in doubt, stay out! Do not drive into areas where water covers the road. Stay away from creeks, streams, rivers, and other drainage areas.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Pearisburg, Narrows, Pembroke, Peterstown, Poplar Hill, Rich Creek and Glen Lyn.
