At 744 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 5 miles east of Newton, or 5 miles south of Claremont, moving southeast at 10 mph.
Locations to be impacted include...
Newton, Maiden, Catawba, Lake Norman, Denver, Westport, Boger City, Conover, Sherrills Ford and Terrell.
Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail will be possible in these areas.
