Maryland... Potomac River at Shepherdstown affecting Berkeley, Washington and Jefferson Counties. For the Potomac River...including Paw Paw, Hancock, Shepherdstown, Harpers Ferry, Point of Rocks, Edwards Ferry, Little Falls... Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT... Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE... Potomac River at Shepherdstown. * WHEN... From Wednesday afternoon until further notice. * IMPACTS... At 24.0 feet, Water begins to cover the parking lot adjacent to the Shepherdstown boat ramp, and approaches the lowest point of an adjacent building. Water also reaches the upper parking area of the boat ramp adjacent to Dam Number Four on the West Virginia side of the river. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM EDT Tuesday the stage was 4.2 feet, or 10.8 feet below flood stage. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise above flood stage tomorrow afternoon and continue rising to a crest of 23.1 feet Thursday morning. - Flood stage is 15.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 23.0 feet on 06/04/2018. - Please visit www.weather.gov/safety/flood for flood safety and preparedness information ![]() |
