Flooding caused by excessive rainfall will continue overnight.

* WHERE...
Portions of southwest Virginia and southeast West Virginia, including the following counties, in southwest Virginia, Bland and Tazewell. In southeast West Virginia, Mercer.

* WHEN...
Until 245 AM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Several roads, especially in the Bluefield area, remain closed due to flooding.
Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 1221 AM EDT, Gauge reports indicated heavy rain due to excessive runoff from heavy rainfall. Flooding is already ongoing or imminent n the warned area. The Bluestone river at Spanishburg continues to rise and is now in major flood at 15.7 feet. Flood stage is 12 ft. and major flood stage is 17 ft. The river is expected to continue to rise for the next several hours and may approach 20 ft. later tonight. At 15 ft., the Spanishburg Elementary School and Rich Creek Baptist church become flooded. At 14 ft., numerous portions of U.S.
Highway 19 are impacted by flood waters south of Spanishburg.
Now that the river has risen to over 17 ft., additional significant flooding is possible throughout areas adjacent to the river. All precautions should be taken immediately to protect lives and property! - This includes the following streams and drainages...
Brush Creek, Beaver Branch, Big Spring Branch, Bratton Branch, Bluestone River and Blacklick Creek.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bluefield, Princeton, Rocky Gap, Camp Creek, Spanishburg, Pocahontas and Bramwell.
