* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 605 PM EDT, The Elkins Police Department reported that several roads, especially in the downtown area, had water standing on the roads or flowing across the roads because of poor drainage. While no roads had been closed as of this time, motorists were driving through water covered roads. In particular Main Street in Elkin was flooded. Doppler radar indicated that 1 to 2 inches of rain had fallen in this area during the past hour where the ground is saturated from previous heavy rainfall during prior days. Overflowing poor drainage areas have already resulted in minor flooding within the advisory area. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is possible during the next hour. If conditions continue to worsen, a Flash Flood Warning may need to be issued for part of this area.
- This includes the following streams and drainages...
Beaverdam Creek, Elkin Creek, Arnold Branch, Jonesville Creek, Little Hunting Creek, Dobbins Creek, Yadkin River, North Little Hunting Creek, Turkey Creek, Camp Creek, East Swan Creek, Hughes Branch and Cobb Creek.
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that could experience flooding include...
Elkin... Jonesville...
Ronda... Swancreek...
