Urban area and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. * WHERE... A portion of west central Virginia, including the following counties and independent cities, Botetourt, City of Roanoke, City of Salem, Franklin and Roanoke. * WHEN... Until 845 AM EDT Friday. * IMPACTS... Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of slow moving or standing water. Local media have reported water rescues earlier this evening. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1046 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is already occurring in the warned area. Between 3 and 5 inches of rain have fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Big Bear Rock Branch, Back Creek, Carvin Creek and Buffalo Creek. Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
