Canceled 7/21/24 6:25 PM Flood Advisory issued July 21 at 5:14PM EDT until July 21 at 8:00PM EDT by NWS Blacksburg VA ...Flood Advisory in Effect for Northeastern Surry County and Southwestern Patrick County until 800 PM EDT this Evening... * WHAT... Heavy rainfall on saturated ground between Ararat and Mt. Airy. * WHERE... Portions of north central North Carolina, including the following county, Surry and southwest Virginia, including the following county, Patrick. * WHEN... Until 800 PM EDT. * IMPACTS... Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Water over roadways. Overflowing poor drainage areas. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 504 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms in the advisory area. Overflowing poor drainage resulting from heavy rain on already saturated ground will result in increased potential for flooding, especially minor flooding in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen. - This includes the following streams and drainages... Ararat River, Johnson Creek, Archies Creek, Birds Branch, Big Creek, Doe Run Creek, Kings Run, Silverleaf Creek, Faulkner Creek, Toms Creek and Lovills Creek. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
