Opequon Creek near Martinsburg affecting Berkeley and Jefferson Counties. For the Opequon Creek...including Martinsburg...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT... Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE... Opequon Creek near Martinsburg. * WHEN... Until Friday morning. * IMPACTS... At 12.5 feet, The creek is well out of its banks with lowlands nearby flooded. Golf Course Road /County Road 36/ is flooded near the Van Metre Ford Pedestrian Bridge. Fields and backyards near the creek are flooded and some residents may need to move items to higher ground. Several other roads are flooded, including Grapevine Road, Douglas Grove Road, and Paynes Ford Road. Backwater flooding is occurring on small tributaries, including Tuscarora Creek. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:00 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 12.4 feet, or 2.4 feet above flood stage. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:00 PM EDT Wednesday was 12.4 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 12.6 feet late this evening.
