The combination of low relative humidity and gusty winds will create an increased risk for fire spread through this afternoon and evening.
Expect relative humidity values in the 10 to 20 percent range and south to southwest winds of 10 to 15 mph with gusts of 15 to 20 mph with locally higher gusts possible.
These conditions could lead to the rapid spread of any fires that do occur. Consult your local burn permitting authorities on whether you may burn outdoors today. Virginia law prohibits burning in the spring from midnight to 4PM...February 15th through April 30th.
