THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH 261 IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NORTH CAROLINA THIS WATCH INCLUDES 4 COUNTIES IN PIEDMONT NORTH CAROLINA ALEXANDER IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA AVERY CALDWELL MITCHELL THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF BANNER ELK, BETHLEHEM, ELLENDALE, GRANITE FALLS, HIDDENITE, INGALLS, KINGS CREEK, LENOIR, MILLERSVILLE, NEWLAND, PATTERSON, POPLAR, SAWMILLS, SPRUCE PINE, STONY POINT, AND TAYLORSVILLE.
