Stokes County in north central North Carolina... Surry County in northwestern North Carolina... Yadkin County in northwestern North Carolina... * Until 415 PM EDT. * At 113 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms increasing across Yadkin, Surry, and Stokes counties. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly within the advisory area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have already fallen in some locations. * Flooding of low-lying and normally flood prone areas will be likely during the next few hours. Some locations that may experience flooding include... Mount Airy, Elkin, Fairview, Flat Rock, Yadkinville, Jonesville and Dobson. Additional rainfall of 1 to 2 inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in an increased threat for flooding. This includes the following streams and drainages... Ararat River, Arnold Branch, Baker Branch, Archies Creek, Beaverdam Creek and Beaver Creek. |
