Light snow showers and flurries are still occurring across parts of southwest Virginia and extreme northeast Tennessee in a very cold airmass early this morning. The precipitation may continue through the early to mid morning hours. With the cold temperatures some accumulation of a dusting up to as much as a half inch may still occur. Other locations may have residual snow and ice due to the below freezing temperatures the last couple days.
While accumulations will be light, slippery conditions are possible on untreated roadways, especially where lingering snow or ice from precipitation earlier this week is still frozen on surfaces. If traveling this morning, use extra caution and allow extra time to reach your destination.
