The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a * Flood Warning for the Elk River At Clay.

* Until Tuesday morning.

* At 5:20 AM EST Monday the stage was 17.7 feet.

* Flood stage is 18.0 feet.

* Moderate flooding is forecast.

* Forecast...
The river will rise above flood stage early this morning to 21.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight to 7.6 feet and begin rising again Wednesday evening. It will rise to 9.9 feet early Friday morning. It will then fall again and remain below flood stage.

* Impact...
At 20.0 feet, Homes in the Pisgah section of Clay, and a few homes on the north side of Clay are flooded between 20 and 22 feet. Sections of Elkhurst/Elk River Road are flooded.

This crest compares to a previous crest of 21.0 feet on 11/19/2003.
