At 745 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a cluster of strong thunderstorms 10 miles southeast of Newton, or 4 miles north of Denver. These storms were nearly stationary.
HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is possible.
Locations impacted include...
Newton, Maiden, Westport, Claremont, Catawba, Lake Norman, Lake Norman State Park, Denver, Lookout Shoals Lake, and Conover.
