Dense fog, reducing visibility to 1/4 mile or less, lingers across portions of the Piedmont and foothills this morning, mainly in areas east Highway 25 in South Carolina, and east of the Blue Ridge escarpment in North Carolina. Motorists traveling along I-26 through upstate South Carolina, I-85 east of Greenville, and I-40 in the North Carolina foothills and Piedmont should be prepared for adverse driving conditions. Slow down, use low beam headlights, and leave plenty of distance between you and other vehicles of dense fog is encountered. The fog should lift in most areas by late morning.
