...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM SHOWING PERSISTENT SIGNS OF BROAD ROTATION WILL MOVE INTO AND AFFECT SOUTHEASTERN ORANGE...SOUTHERN GRANVILLE AND DURHAM COUNTIES UNTIL 345 PM EDT...
At 259 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm continuing to show signs of broad rotation near Pittsboro, moving northeast at 40 mph. If the rotation tightens, a tornado warning may need to be issued.
Pea size hail, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 40 mph will be possible with this storm.
Locations impacted include...
Durham, Chapel Hill, Creedmoor, Carrboro, Butner, Stem, Lake Michie, Eno River State Park, Gorman and Parkwood.
A tornado watch remains in effect until 800 PM EDT for central North Carolina.
