Flood Warning issued January 26 at 4:27AM EST until January 26 at 6:15AM EST by NWS Blacksburg VA
Prolonged rainfall over southern West Virginia and southwest Virginia has resulted in flooding on some streams and creeks.
At 427 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated an area of very heavy rainfall across the warned area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen.
Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Bluefield, Lexington, Buena Vista, Princeton, Covington and Clifton Forge.
In Mercer County, the gauge at Camp Creek was 7.4 feet and rising.
Flood Stage is 7 feet. This will result in flooding in parts of Camp Creek State Park.
On the East River at Willowton, the stage was 9.3 feet and the river was cresting. Flood stage is 9 feet. This will flood Christie Road.
Brush Creek near Princeton and the Bluestone River near Pipestem were also rising.
River also showed sharp rises.
Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.25 inches are possible in the warned area.
