* WHAT...
Damaging icing expected. Total sleet accumulations up to two inches and ice accumulations between one half and three quarters of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph, mainly in the higher elevations.

* WHERE...
The northern mountains, northern foothills, and northwest Piedmont of North Carolina.

* WHEN...
Until 1 PM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...
Widespread power outages are likely due to the weight of the ice and snow on tree limbs and power lines. The outages could last for days in some areas. Falling trees and limbs could pose a threat to life and property. Ice and snow covered roadways will become treacherous and impassable. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
Sleet and ice snow accumulations will increase rapidly early this morning. Precipitation rates are expected to become light late this morning before increasing again this afternoon. The worst impacts are expected this afternoon and evening. Treacherous road conditions and power outages will remain Sunday night and likely linger through at least Monday.
