At 240 AM EST, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms with intense lightning 4 miles west of Gastonia, or near Bessemer City, moving northeast at 45 mph.
Locations to be impacted include...
Gastonia, Rock Hill, Uptown Charlotte, Huntersville, Kannapolis, Downtown Concord, Salisbury, Shelby, Gaffney and Lincolnton.
In addition to intense lightning, wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail will be possible in these areas.
