...Threat for Flash Flooding Increasing Across Sections of Central North Carolina Through This Evening...
.Bands of showers and thunderstorms will dump locally heavy rainfall across sections of central North Carolina through early this evening. Much of the region has received between one and three inches of rain during the past week with some locations in excess of four inches. With area creeks and stream running above normal levels, additional heavy rainfall will quickly result in flash flooding, particularly in urbanized areas.
The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a * Flash Flood Watch for a portion of central North Carolina, including the following areas, Alamance, Chatham, Davidson, Durham, Edgecombe, Forsyth, Franklin, Granville, Guilford, Halifax, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Montgomery, Moore, Nash, Orange, Person, Randolph, Stanly, Vance, Wake, Warren, and Wilson.

* Through this evening * Bands of showers and thunderstorms will dump locally heavy rainfall on saturated soils, leading to flash flooding of creeks and streams.
