Flood Advisory issued June 29 at 8:52PM EDT until June 29 at 10:45PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

* WHAT...
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...
A portion of piedmont North Carolina, including the following counties, Cabarrus and Mecklenburg.

* WHEN...
Until 1045 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible.
A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A small culvert washout or two is possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 809 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicates that the thunderstorms responsible for excessive rainfall have dissipated across the Advisory area. Between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain fell in about an hour, which resulted in excessive runoff across portions of northeast Mecklenburg County and northwest Cabarrus County. No additional significant rainfall is expected, therefore, more significant flash flooding will not occur and a Flash Flood Warning will not be issued. However, the Flood Advisory will remain in place to allow impacted streams to crest and recede below critical levels.
The areas of greatest concern for ongoing nuisance flooding are along the headwaters of Clarke Creek east of downtown Huntersville, including Ferrelltown Creek near Eastfield Regional Park and Skybrook Golf Club and South Prong Clarke Creek near Ashbury Chapel Rd and Harris Rd. Though there was an earlier report of flooding along Huntersville-Concord Rd near 2nd St and South Prong Clarke Creek, it is likely high flows closer to Huntersville have crested and are now moving downstream towards Cabarrus County near Cox Mill Rd and Poplar Tent Rd. Therefore, expect the threat for nuisance flooding to shift further downstream closer to Cabarrus County through 10pm.
- Some locations that may experience nuisance to Minor flooding include...
Huntersville, Cornelius, Davidson, and Croft.
