West to northwest winds will quickly increase behind a cold front early this morning and will gust from 25-35 mph in many locations with some gusts as high as 45 mph along the higher ridges and high country of northwest North Carolina. These strongest gusts may last into the daytime hours but will gradually decrease throughout the late morning and afternoon.
Isolated damage to tree limbs and some uprooted of weaker trees is possible, and unsecured objects could be blown around. Travel could be difficult on interstates with gusty cross winds.
