Special Weather Statement issued November 26 at 2:37PM EST by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC
Drying conditions and gusty winds in the wake of the cold front that moved east of the area this morning have lead to an increased risk of dangerous fire growth. Relative humidity values this afternoon have dipped to between 20 and 25 percent, with a few locations in the upper teens. Northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph are also gusting above 20 mph at times. These conditions, combined with dry brush and other surface fuels, will allow fires to develop easily and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is discouraged.
Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether you can burn today. If you do burn, use extreme caution since fires can quickly get out of hand under these conditions.
