...THE FLOOD ADVISORY FOR MINOR FLOODING IN POOR DRAINAGE AREAS REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 815 AM EST FOR SMYTH...TAZEWELL...WESTERN BLAND...WESTERN WYTHE AND GRAYSON COUNTIES...
At 529 AM EST, Rainfall had finally diminished within the advisory area after several hours of a steady moderate rainfall. Rainfall amounts averaged around 1 to 1.5 inches in the western part of Smyth and Grayson county, as well as far southwest Tazewell county, most of which fell since midnight. Currently, only light rain remains in the area, but additional rainfall across southeast Kentucky and far southwest Virginia will likely move back into the advisory area before daybreak.
The rainfall of last evening and early this morning fell on saturated ground. Minor areal flooding remains possible this morning. Flooding would most likely be encountered in low-lying, normally flood prone, and poor drainage areas.
Rainfall is expected to diminish later this morning and the threat of flooding will diminish later in the morning.
