.A winter storm system tracking across the southeast United States will bring rain, then snow to the area late this afternoon through early Thursday morning.

* WHAT...
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, with locally higher amounts. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...
Portions of southwest and west central Virginia and southeast West Virginia.

* WHEN...
From 6 PM this evening to noon EST Thursday.

* IMPACTS...
Plan on slippery road conditions. Untreated roads will be snow covered and hazardous. The hazardous conditions will impact the morning commute. Gusty winds will also produce blowing snow which will reduce visibilities lead to hazardous travel.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
Heaviest snow amounts will be at the higher elevations.
