Canceled 6/29/25 10:55 PM Flood Advisory issued June 29 at 9:19PM EDT until June 29 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC * WHAT... Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE... A portion of piedmont North Carolina, including the following counties, Cabarrus and Rowan. * WHEN... Until 1100 PM EDT. * IMPACTS... Nuisance flooding of low-lying areas adjacent to streams and other poor-drainage areas, including farmland, parks, greenways, boat-access areas, golf courses, underpasses, and parking lots. Isolated, shallow flows over roadways is possible. A few flood-prone, low-water crossings may become impassible. A small culvert washout or two is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 855 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicates that the thunderstorms responsible for excessive rainfall have dissipated across the Advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain fell in about an hour, which resulted in excessive runoff across portions of northwest Cabarrus County and southwest Rowan County, with the heaviest rainfall occuring across the towns of Landis and North Kannapolis. No additional significant rainfall is expected, therefore, more significant flash flooding will not occur and a Flash Flood Warning will not be issued. However, the Flood Advisory will remain in place to allow impacted streams to crest and recede below critical levels. It is likely any areas of urban flooding from Landis to Kannapolis have subsided. However, high flows along Irish Buffalo Creek are likely to continue through 10pm below Kannapolis Lake from Westbrook near Pine St, to Walter M Safrit Park, to Orphanage Rd near Veterans Park. - Some locations that may experience nuisance flooding include... Kannapolis, China Grove, Landis, and Enochville - Http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood ![]() |
