...Areas of Dense Fog to Persist until around 9 AM EDT this Morning...
In the wake of Monday`s late day rainfall and light to calm winds early this morning, areas of dense fog developed across much of southwest and south central and increasing in areal coverage, especially across southwest Virginia and southeast West Virginia.
The most problematic areas appear to be along and west of the I-77 corridor as well as the New River Valley, and the foothills just east of the Blue Ridge from Lynchburg to Mt. Airy to Wilkesboro.
If you will be traveling through 9 AM this morning, be prepared to encounter areas of dense fog as well as rapidly varying visibility from one location to another. Reduce speed, use low beam headlights, and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front of you.
