...FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY EVENING...
The National Weather Service in Charleston has expanded the * Flash Flood Watch to include portions of southwest Virginia and West Virginia, including the following areas, in southwest Virginia, Buchanan and Dickenson. In West Virginia, Boone, Logan, McDowell, Mingo, Northwest Raleigh, Southeast Raleigh, and Wyoming.

* Through Thursday evening * Showers and some storms will continue through Thursday evening.
This combined with recent rainfall amounts will increase the threat for flash flooding. The potential exists for repetitive showers and storms through Thursday evening...exacerbating this threat.

* Urban flooding of poor drainage areas as well as creek flooding are possible. People residing near creeks should monitor the forecast and prepare to take immediate action should flooding occur or if a flash flood warning is issued.
