Flood Advisory issued July 18 at 7:01PM EDT until July 18 at 9:15PM EDT by NWS Greenville-Spartanburg SC

* WHAT...
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...
A portion of western North Carolina, including the following counties, Avery and Caldwell.

* WHEN...
Until 915 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...
Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas is expected along with rapid rises and high flows on smaller streams.
This includes Wilson Creek from the headwaters in Avery County downstream to the Edgemont community, as well as Anthony Creek and the headwaters of Johns River.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 655 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 1.5 and 3 inches of rain have fallen across much of the Advisory area since around 500 PM.
- Heavier rainfall has moved back over the Advisory area, and additional rainfall amounts of up to one inch are expected through 800 PM. This is not expected to be enough to cause flash flooding, but high flow will continue along Wilson Creek from the headwaters downstream to the Edgemont community through the evening. An upgrade to a Flash Flood Warning is still possible, and people camping along Wilson Creek near the Avery and Caldwell County line should be prepared to take immediate action if a Warning is issued.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
